Position Summary
Under the general direction of the VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the Director of Information Governance is responsible for overseeing the Company’s Information Governance Program and continued program development. As part of this responsibility, the role will direct the overall administration of all corporate records information management (RIM), manage the criteria of the company’s records and information governance policies in regards to retention and related procedures, ensure continued legal, regulatory and policy compliance, and develop and provide RIM training. The work and information maintained is considered sensitive and confidential.

This position is distinguished by administrative responsibility for company-wide records and information management. The work is characterized by extensive contact with Company personnel at all levels and across all departments. The nature, diversity, and scope of responsibilities originating from this position require the frequent use of discretion, initiative and independent judgment.
Specific Responsibilities
The Director of Information Governance will be responsible for the strategic and operational success of multi-site departments, ensuring that each department adheres to the highest information governance standards. This individual will serve as an information governance expert, guiding collaborative teams to develop and implement solutions, procedures and best practices for the Information Governance Program. This individual will manage data privacy functions including policies, procedures and initiatives ensuring data management processes reflect privacy requirements and comply with laws and regulations. The role will also foster support for the professional development of individuals, guiding them through the processes for building their competencies.
The role will coordinate and assist with the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Information Governance Program to advance the company’s goals of increased business efficiency, increased access, and governance of records and information.
Responsibilities include:
- Act as the application administrator of electronic content management technologies including business process analysis, software evaluation and selection, software configuration, and interface with the Information Systems department related to system administration and support.
- Develop, implement and update processes to protect, limit the use and storage of sensitive personal information and personally identifiable information.
- Develop, implement, and update the company records and information management policies and ensure company compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Perform information governance training and awareness for company personnel.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with company policy and effectiveness of the company’s Information Governance Program.
- Oversee company retention and destruction activities and the retrieval of company records related to litigation, investigation, and audits.
- Initiate litigation hold activities, assisting with discovery responses and subpoenas.
- Identify information governance best practices and issues and make recommendations to company management.
- Perform duties as necessary to support the Corporate Attorney and General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Takes initiative and has the ability to work on numerous projects under pressure. Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of initiatives. Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, written and oral communication skills. Excellent business judgment. Technically astute. Possesses working knowledge of federal and state legal and regulatory compliance issues pertaining to records and information management. Prior program implementation and maintenance in the records and information management/information governance field.
Required Education and Experience
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in library sciences, social sciences, information systems, computer science or a closely related field. A minimum of six (8) years of records and information management experience. Previous experience in evaluating, selecting and implementing enterprise content management systems. Prior experience in developing and implementing enterprise information governance programs. Certified Records Manager (CRM) or CRM candidate preferred.
Compensation Range
$128,000.00 - $231,400.00 Annual Salary
