Description

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Management Information Systems. The preferred start date is January 3rd, 2022 (Spring 2022) but August 8th, 2022 (Fall 2022) is acceptable. Potential candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the MIS program. Candidates should be willing to teach using various instructional modalities (face to face, online, blended) 
and engage with the local industry to provide applied learning opportunities for the students. Candidates should also demonstrate an active and ongoing research agenda that leads to peer reviewed publications and conference presentations. Some service activities at the university, professional, and local community level are expected from every faculty member.


Wichita, KS is known as “The Air Capital of the World” given the large number of aircraft manufacturing companies that call Wichita home. The Barton School of Business works closely with the business community, which provides research opportunities for faculty and keeps ourcurriculum relevant. The candidate will be a faculty member in the department of Finance, Real Estate, and Decision Sciences (FREDS), which offers programs in Finance, MIS, BA, and Supply Chain with a cross-disciplinary focus that give students the skills to bridge functional business areas by applying expertise in analytics, information systems, and/or supply chain management. 



Requirements

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related area from an AACSB accredited College of Business. Candidates at an advanced stage of their doctoral studies (ABD) will be considered if they demonstrate capability of completing their degree requirements before the effective date of appointment. Candidates must also demonstrate evidence of:
      Research productivities (e.g. copies of research article)
      Teaching effectiveness (e.g. teaching evaluations)
      Ability to teach with different delivery methods

Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and research interests in IT-related subjects that are in higher industry demand, including but not limited to Cybersecurity, Mobile Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Data Sciences, and Blockchain technology.
